Getting together around and before the holidays is tough—that’s why we aren’t! Your SHFM Chicago team has however created a new event format for after the holidays that is geared towards ensuring a strong focus on networking, team building, creativity and good old competition. There will also be appetizers and drinks served during the event and time to view and explore new equipment ideas for your location(s).
So what’s the competition?
- Each team will be led by an Executive Chef from our partner contract foodservice groups and comprised of a mixed group of individuals ensuring most folks from the same organizations will not be on the same team.
- Each chef will be showcasing a signature hors d'oeuvre prepped prior to the event and finished on-site. Each chef/team will also be tasked with adding a signature “twist” to compliment the hors d'oeuvre prepared by the chef. The total creation (hors d'oeuvre + Signature “Twist”) will then be judged for creativity, taste and presentation by a panel of mostly honest judges.
- The winning group will take home the Top Dogs trophy and have 2019 bragging rights.

As always, we are partnering with a local charitable organization to continue to make a positive impact in our communities. We have chosen the Night Ministry as our charitable to partner to benefit for the event.
The Night Ministry is a Chicago-based organization that works to provide housing, health care and human connection to members of our community struggling with poverty or homelessness. Through The Night Ministry's Health Outreach Bus, Street Medicine Team, Youth Housing, and Youth Outreach Van, each year we provide services to more than 5,600 young people and adults who have nowhere else to go. With an open heart and an open mind, we accept people as they are and work to address their immediate physical, emotional, and social needs while affirming their sense of humanity.
