Health & Safety

COMMITMENT TO REGATHERING SAFELY

We look forward to seeing you at SHFM’s 2021 National Conference.

Working in partnership with the Omni Amelia Island, we intend to deliver a safe event, allowing our attendees,
speakers, sponsors and exhibitors to connect, learn and network - while allowing the SHFM family to regather in a spirit of hospitality and safety. In light of that commitment, SHFM is requiring each attendee to review and respond to the liability waiver, which is included with this year’s registration form and found below on this page.

SHFM is continuing to monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation and will follow safety precautions in place at the time of the conference. Health and safety updates will be posted on this page so please check back for any new information.

OMNI’S SAFE & CLEAN PROGRAM

Omni Hotels & Resorts will continue with its current Safe and Clean protocols but will follow state and local mandates pertaining to guest and associate requirements for mask wearing and social distancing while indoors. Associates and guests are welcome to use masks as they see fit for their personal protection, but mask use is not mandatory at this time.

MASKS

While the Omni’s hotel mask policy is stated above, as of September 9th, masks will be required for sessions and indoor events regardless of vaccination status and may be subject to change if the situation improves. For outdoor events masks are optional if you are fully vaccinated, however; for those who are not fully vaccinated, you are requested to wear a mask.

In the hotel’s common space, masks are at the individual’s personal discretion.

COVID-related updates will be posted on this page. Please refer here for additional details.

CDC GUIDELINES

Before you arrive at the Omni, please review CDC Guidelines for a safe conference.

SHFM’S ATTENDEE LIABILITY WAIVER

I voluntarily wish to attend the Society for Hospitality & Foodservice Management’s (SHFM) National Conference at the Omni Amelia Island Resort, December 5-8, 2021, and acknowledge that I am increasing my risk to exposure to the Coronavirus/COVID-19.

I acknowledge the contagious nature of Coronavirus/COVID-19 and that the CDC and many other public health authorities still recommend preventative measures, including wearing masks (when not eating or drinking) and social distancing.

I further acknowledge that SHFM is relying on the Omni Amelia Island to implement and maintain preventative measures to reduce the spread of Coronavirus/COVID-19.

I further acknowledge that SHFM cannot guarantee that I will not become infected with Coronavirus/COVID-19 before, during or after participation in the event.

I acknowledge that I must comply with all recommended procedures detailed on the event website and shared by the hotel property at the event through signs and other means, as well as any state or local rules or guidelines in place at the event at that time.

I attest in order to protect the health and safety of all event attendees as much as possible:
  • If I am experiencing any symptoms of illness such as cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell within 14 days prior to the event start, I will not attend the event.
  • I will not have traveled internationally within 14 days prior to the event start date.
  • If I believe I have been exposed to someone with a suspected and/or confirmed case of the Coronavirus/COVID-19 within 14 days prior to the event start date, I will not attend.
  • If I am diagnosed with Coronavirus/COVID-19 and not yet been cleared within 14 days prior to the event start date as non-contagious then I will not attend the event.

I hereby release and agree to hold SHFM, the Omni Amelia Island and all suppliers, harmless, and waive on behalf of myself, my heirs, and any personal representatives any and all causes of action, claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses and compensation for damage or loss to myself and/or property that may be caused by any act, or failure to act by SHFM, or that may otherwise arise in any way in connection with attending and participating at SHFM’s National Conference. This liability waiver and release extends to the owners, partners, employees, contractors and suppliers retained by SHFM to produce SHFM’s 2021 National Conference. The foregoing is subject to change based on any Federal, state or local changes or recommendations.

To register for conference, you must respond to the following:

And respond to one of the following two statements:
  • By registering for this conference, I attest that I am fully vaccinated against COVID-19
  • I will not be fully vaccinated, however; I will obtain a negative COVID test within three days prior to arrival
